Chili Lime Seasoned Turkey
- 1 lb (450 g) ground Ontario turkey
- 1 clove, garlic, minced
- 1 egg, lightly beaten
- ½ cup (125 ml) panko breadcrumbs
- 2 tbsp (30 ml) parsley, chopped
- 1 tbsp (15 ml) white part of green onion
- 1 tbsp (15 ml) chili lime seasoning mix (A mix of Sugars (dextrose, sugar), Irradiated dehydrated chili pepper, Paprika, Irradiated onion powder, Garlic powder, Lime oil, Spice)
- Fresh ground pepper to taste
In a medium bowl, combine the turkey, garlic, egg, breadcrumbs, parsley, onion, seasoning and pepper.
Meatballs: Shape mixture into 18 balls (1½”/3 cm). Place meatballs in an 11″ × 7″ (2 L) baking pan. Bake in a 400°F (200°C) oven for 20–25 minutes. Remove from oven and drain any liquid. Return to oven and bake for an additional 15 minutes or until cooked through.
Burger Patties: Divide mixture into 4 portions and shape into oval patties about ¾” (2 cm) thick. Place burgers on an oiled grill over medium heat. Grill for approximately 12 minutes, turning once, or until cooked through.
Air fryer variation: Place meatballs or patties in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Air fry at 400°F (200°C) for approximately 10 minutes for meatballs or 12 minutes for patties, turning halfway through, until cooked.
Tip: Use a digital probe thermometer to check for doneness. Ground turkey should reach a minimum internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
